What are some ideas I can do with short hair?

I have short hair just below my chin and I have layers to make it shape my face. I need to get it cut soon cause I usually have it at my chin and I can never really do much with my hair the only ways I ever where it is straightened and crimped but my sister is always telling me I need to where it differntly but I am always telling her "tell me ways do to that" but she won't. I don't like my hair up very much and it takes a baijllion bobbi bins. Can you help? I don't look good with a half pony tail thing either. I could to my hair up but I don't know how to make it look good.
